I broke out the sewing machine today.
I had taken my ancient Singer to a Brother repair shop, and they charged me $60 for the privilege of putting the doohickey (scientific term) that fell out of the bobbin casing back in. It took a few tries, but I think I've got it working to my specs again (the bobbin tension is still loose though.) I sewed up the ripped seams on the bedspread and hemmed three pairs of jeans (no small feat considering that 1) I had cats underneath my feet or trying to get into my lap the entire time, 2) my sewing machine needle was the wrong size, and 3) I can't sew.)
My next project is a scrub top with a contrasting band and a dickie insert (which requires fusible webbing). I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. =\
